Internet connection - last error: 12029

Scenario: If you are unable to update K7 Security products getting an error information.

Steps to follow:

  1. Verify whether an internet connection is active and stable.
  2. Check your IE version. Open Internet Explorer and navigate to Help and choose About Internet Explorer
  3. If it is IE-6, upgrade to IE-8, below link can use to upgrade the internet explorer. http://download.microsoft.com/download/C/C/0/CC0BD555-33DD-411E-936B-73AC6F95AE11/IE8-WindowsXP-x86-ENU.exe 
  4. If the issue persists, check if you are connecting to the Internet using a proxy. This can be checked in Internet Explorer >Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings
  5. If there are no proxy details entered in Internet Explorer, check and remove proxy details entered in your K7 product if any
  6. Open the K7 product and click on Updates > Configure Updates > Access Internet Through proxy Server
  7. Remove the proxy details and try updating the product.
  8. Open the command prompt and type in tracert updates.k7computing.com. Check if the trace completes successfully. If it does not complete successfully check your internet connection or try updating using another internet connection
  9. If the trace completes successfully, run the Proxy Enable fix tool and then try updating the product  https://www.k7computing.com/dl/free-tools/K7Updt_PrxyEnble_Fix.zip If the issue persists, please reset the Internet properties and try the update.
  10. If the issue persists, please reset the Internet properties and try the update.
  11. To reset Internet properties, open Run > Inetcpl.cpl > OK
      

12. Click on Advance > Reset

      

13. Give check mark on “Delete personal setting” and click on Reset
